William A. Alesker, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP

Mr. Alesker is a principal and founder of Alesker & Dundon Architects. He has extensive experience in hotel, historic rehabilitation, and residential construction as well as commercial and institutional projects. He performs programming, preliminary design and planning functions with the firm, and generally guides projects from inception to completed buildings.

Mr. Alesker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia (1958) and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania (1960). Mr. Alesker is a registered architect in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Florida and Delaware and holds the N.C.A.R.B. Certificate, and is a LEED accredited professional. He served on the board of the Foundation for Architecture.

Since the formation of his own firm in 1969, he has specialized in multi-family housing and hotel design as well as historical restoration and adaptive re-use. Among the many projects designed by Mr. Alesker are:

  • The $70,000,000, 28 building Sagamore Resort on Lake George near the Town of Bolton, NY.
  • The conversion of the 5 building Bergdoll Brewery in Philadelphia into a mixed-use community of 102 rental apartments as well as town houses and offices.
  • The conversion of the Historic Pier 3 and 5 on Penns Landing in Philadelphia into 268 apartments, marina, office retail and restaurant use.
  • Numerous other new and reused buildings for residential, hotel, office, restaurant, and retail purpose.
  • Mr. Alesker was architect for the Hershey Philadelphia Hotel and Conference Center (now the Double Tree) and the adjacent Wilma Theatre and parking complex, as well as a 48 suite hotel addition in the air rights above the theatre and garage.

Projects currently being designed by Mr. Alesker are:

  • Renaissance Plaza - A 4 phase 2.5 million square foot complex on a 5.3 acre site on the Delaware River waterfront in Philadelphia. The complex will contain 1,358 rental apartments in 4 multi-story buildings, 70,000 square feet of retail space, 4,000 square feet of professional office space, garaged parking for 653 cars and extensive public open space.  The project is a candidate for LEED Gold Certification.
  •  World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia – A 4 million square foot complex on a 16 acre site on the Delaware River at the foot of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Camden, NJ.  A key to the revitalization of Camden and integrated into the Camden City and Waterfront plans, this phased business incubator project will contain 3 million square feet of office space in a mix of high and low rise buildings, a conference center, 400 residential apartments, and a neighborhood shopping center.  This is to be a LEED project designed as an office campus with an uninterrupted landscaped plaza that connects all buildings.
